Because the shape is crisp and clean, a princess diamond looks great in a simple solitaire, and it also pairs well with pavé bands, hidden halos and three-stone designs.

What to look for in a princess cut diamond

  • 01Shape

    Most people want a true square, with a length-to-width ratio between 1.00 and 1.05. A higher number looks slightly rectangular.

  • 02Corners

    The four corners are the most delicate part of the stone. Choose a setting with V-prongs or a bezel that covers and protects each corner.

  • 03Color and clarity

    Corners can show a little color, so many buyers pick a slightly higher color grade. You can request an exact color and clarity in the Custom Text box on any ring.

What is the difference between princess, cushion and radiant cuts?

A princess cut is square with sharp, pointed corners. A cushion cut has soft, rounded corners and a pillow shape. A radiant cut has trimmed corners and can be square or rectangular. All three have strong sparkle.

Does a princess cut look bigger than a round diamond?

Measured corner to corner, a princess diamond is wider than a round diamond of the same carat weight, so it can look a little larger on the hand.

Are lab grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same chemical makeup, hardness and sparkle as a mined diamond. It is grown in a lab instead of being mined.
